Yesterday we hit the island of Cheung Chau, one of the outlying islands in Hong Kong! It was a big group of people, half of which turned up quite late, and most of which stayed the night.
I did not as I am antisocial and generally am uncomfortable staying overnight in other places.
Island of Cheung Chau
So we met up late after sorting out some canada app stuff for Esme (Do not apply to Canada ever, jesus it is the most tiring thing ever. I said a few times how it was an intelligence test to sort out who was able to apply) I got a hot chocolate by the pier too, which was good since I woke up feeling like shit, and generally did not help myself by going for a run. Apparently it's flu season.
We took the 4.40 ferry and arrived, first checking into their (and the only) hotel. Fun fact: it also apparently has the highest suicide rate of any hotel in the world, perhaps why they make you pay upfront.
Our lot got an upgrade as we were a big group of teens and they wanted us to spread the word and make the hotel appeal to a younger group. From what i saw, the rooms weren't bad or anything.
My mom actually grew up on Cheung Chau and my grandmother lived there for a while (my great grandmother still lives there.) so I'd been before a fair few times, but we still went to explore a bit, although it was getting a bit dark. Since it was basically a big group of friends and friends's friends, I met a few people which was cool as well. Met a fellow photographer (who was team Nikon to my Canon though,) and we bonded over how photographers were always the slowest people when walking in a bunch, as we lag behind taking photos of obscure things. We then proceeded to do exactly that.
We then found a place to have dinner (after almost everyone stopped to buy food anyway, or other cute touristy things.) and i then stuffed myself full, although I didn't really eat that much. looking back now i think it was the milkshake hmm.
The others went to the pirate caves, but since they were quite far out, me and Megan decided to head back. We accidentally sort of took the slow ferry, so we sat outside and froze our asses off, but it was so pretty!!
Anyway, it may be noticed that my photos are all square now. For some reason (too much deviantArt stalking perhaps,) I've decided I like square photos. I'm not so sure at the moment though. They're a bit annoying to look at on facebook. I've been messing around so much in photoshop as well.
Onn Tuesday, i went down to the flower market, which is a big festivally-market thing each Chinese New Year, where you can buy giant inflated things (that you will never need,) and flowers and food and just odd things. It was ridiculously busy, so I only really stopped by.
And one picture i took out my window the other day because the clouds were so pretty!!
Today is the ~last day of the year~ in terms of the Chinese new year, so we're having my grandmother over, (chinese one, obviously,) and then Friday I am going to Lamma island with the family and friends etc. We also get our red packets, which is good as I have conveniently spent all my money.
